Master Mason Chart

In the center is a statue of a winged figure, carrying a scythe, who braids the hair of a woman who in turn rests a covered container on an open book as her hand holds a branch aloft. All of this takes place in front of a giant temple still under construction. Some men are working on the construction while another studies. This chart overflows with fraternal and religious traditions of nineteenth century Masonic iconography and tableaus from familiar religious scenes. In a unique feature, the pedestal besides the steps, on the viewer’s right, contains the following statistics: 1453 Columns / 2906 Pilasters / 3 Grand Masters / 3300 Overseers / 80000 Fellow crafts / 70000 Ent’d.
